Campaspe at The shakespeare Globe, London

January 2016

Campaspe is a play by John Lyly, one of Shakespeares contemporaries. Lyly is said to be be the first English prose stylist who left an enduring impression on the language. As a playwright he also contributed to the development of prose dialogue in English comedy.

As part of the MA at the Royal Conservatoire of Scotland we had an intensive one-month residency at Shakespeare’s Globe in London, developing our knowledge and skills of working with classical text. During this time we learned about Elisabethen theatre, and Sheakespeare in the context of its time. Campaspe was shown on the Globe main stage at the end of this month.
